Jacquelyn ‘Jackie’ Carole Thiel

Jacquelyn ‘Jackie’ Carole Thiel (Colling), age 85, of Merrill, went to be with her husband of 66 years on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill, while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services.  She was born on March 6, 1935 to the late Alvin and Loretta (Lorenz) Colling in Seymour, WI.  Jackie married her best friend and only love, Roy H. Thiel on April 24, 1954. Roy recently passed away on September 17, 2020.  They enjoyed 66 years of marriage.  Jackie and Roy had met at The Orange Bowl drive-in in Appleton, WI.  Jackie loved cooking and baking, so her journey started with being a carhop to waitressing at the Left Guard Steakhouse (that was owned by Fuzzy Thurston and Max McGee) in Appleton, WI, to finally finding her calling as a cook at Maine School near Wausau, WI.  Jackie is remembered for her love of Siamese cats, sewing and crafting, bird watching and her caring love for babies.  She had bravely fought and won the battle with breast cancer, something that she, along with her family, were very grateful for.  Jackie was a member at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Merrill, WI.  She will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten.

Jackie is survived by her sons: Michael (Jayne) Thiel and Roy T. (Laurie) Thiel, daughters: Linda (Greg) Berlin, Jenny (Tim) Mueske, all of Merrill and Lisa Hinz of Tomahawk, WI, along with 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, her siblings: Ron (Judy) Colling, Steve (Mary) Colling, Betty Koerner and many other relatives.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband: Roy, daughter: Cynthia, sister: Carol and a brother in infancy.

Per Jackie’s wishes, no services will be held.  Jackie’s family would like to send a very special thanks to the staff of the 400 wing at Pine Crest (where their mom and dad shared a room) along with the staff in the special care unit for taking care of their parents.  A special thanks to Father Maria and the church staff. Thank you to Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services for taking excellent care of their mom.  Waid Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Merrill is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences are encouraged and may be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
