Slagoski named September MHS Youth Optimist

The Optimist chosen for the month of September is Alexis Slagoski.
Alexis was nominated by Mrs. Polly Koebe who writes, “Alexis has one of the most positive and upbeat attitudes I know. She would always greet you with a smile and come to class prepared, willing to learn, and to help those around her. She always has a cheerful greeting and positive comment about the day.”
Mrs. Koebe also comments, “Her work was above average and always done on time. She was very conscientious about her performance in class and wanted to make sure she understood the material and she was more than happy to help others. If the lesson of the day was a little more difficult, she would not let that dissuade her, she would attack it with an open mind and positive attitude so that she was able to succeed and become the top notch student she is today. Alexis always had a smile and skilled advice for classmates each and every day. She was a good example of what an Optimist should be: kind, optimistic, caring, and helpful to those around her. She is an excellent student and will succeed in whatever path she chooses to explore. It was a true pleasure to have her in class”.
Alexis has been active in Big Sisters, remember trip, Cross Country, Link Crew, secretary for DECA, Vice President and President for Jr. Optimist Club, and has lettered in Dance and Track and Field.
In the community, Alexis is a representative for her church council youth group.
Following graduation, Alexis plans to attend college for a degree in kinesiology. She is the daughter of Tara and Cory Slagoski.
