Bluejay tennis turns in strong season finale over Evergreens

The Merrill Bluejay varsity Tennis squad ended their season on a high note on Tuesday, Oct.20; toppling D.C Everest (4-1).
“This was the second time Merrill beat D.C Everest this year,” comments head coach Brad Barton.
“The team of Amelia Skoviera/Tessa Wheat ran into a buzz saw. The Everest duo of Calista Fuehrer/Ally Zimmerman started out on fire in the first set. Erin Murray improved her overall record to 6-2, which is a team best.
“I am so proud of this team,” Barton adds.
“Last year Kamille Ament had Merrill’s best record playing 3 singles (10-10). This year we have six girls with a winning record. Amelia Skoviera is 6-4. Tessa Wheat is 5-4. Alexandra Johnson is 5-3. Autumn Reissmann/Lauren Cohrs are 5-4.

1. Alexandra Johnson (Merrill) beat Ruby Chen 6-2, 6-4
2. Audrey Ladewig (Merrill) beat Madison Baregi 6-3, 6-2
3. Erin Murray (Merrill) beat Nya Harrington 6-2, 6-4
4. Angela Hinner (Merrill) was behind Kyra Loomans 2-4 when the snow caused the match to be canceled
Doubles-
1. Amelia Skoviera/Tessa Wheat (Merrill) lost to Calista Fuehrer/Ally Zimmerman 6-1, 7-5
2. Autumn Reissmann/Lauren Cohrs (Merrill) beat Morgan Geiger/Audrey Seidel 6-2, 6-2
3. Zoey Dreikosen/Kendra Petrowski (Merrill) was behind Morgan Hahn/Mikayla Pozorski 4-6, 4-4 when the snow caused the match to be cancelled.
