Tuesday evening, Oct. 6, the Merrill varsity volleyball team hit the road southbound for a bout with the Wausau-East Lumberjacks and made their presence well-known, en route to a 3-0 shutout.
“It seems that every match we’ve had so far has been a hodge-podge of players,” comments head coach Kris Krug.
“Fortunately, we’ve had our strong senior leadership on and off the court. Tonight we managed to immensely improve our serving, only missing two overall, after missing 12 in our match last week. Our hitting started off strong and we looked like a well oiled machine, but then suffered some miscues later on. Yet, we were able to pull off the match in three sets. Tonight was another night we got some underclassmen in to get some valuable varsity experience. Having players out has given our younger players an opportunity they never would have gotten otherwise.”
