Bluejay Boys Soccer season canceled

The remainder of the 2020 Bluejay Boys varsity soccer season has been canceled.
According to a press release issued by MAPS on Monday afternoon, Sept 28, the decision was made due to an increased number of athletes being quarantined due to COVID-19 concerns.
“This communication is to inform you that due to an increase in the amount of student-athletes-specifically in the boys soccer program, we have quarantined for the next two (2) weeks- we will be canceling the remainder of the fall competitive season effective immediately.
“With a season that is only 4-5 weeks to begin with, taking 2 weeks off to quarantine, would not allow us to pick up and play right away. We would need to re-acclimize the student-athletes in an effort to ensure their physical well being to mitigate injury, that would be another week, so we would essentially miss three (3) weeks of the season. That would account for 9 games (3 weeks x 3 games per week).
“This decision was made with collaboration and discussion that included our varsity head coach and school district administration. This is not a decision that was made lightly or without any thought or consideration. It was however made with the interest of the health and safety of our students and coaches. We understand the disappointment of you and your student-athletes regarding this decision, and apologize for any frustration this has caused. We are grateful for your support and understanding regarding this difficult decision.”
