WisDoT Update on Wis. 64 closure

On Monday morning, July 27, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation issued the following update on the State Road 64 closure due to rising water levels.

Water levels have dropped significantly overnight. Crews placed rip rap at the base of the temporary structure over the Pine River bridge this morning. A WisDOT Structure Engineer is inspecting the temporary structure this morning to make sure nothing shifted overnight and that it’s safe to open.

WisDOT Maintenance staff is on-site in Langlade County, on State Road 64 between Shady Road and Black Brook Bridge, in the town of Ackley.  Water levels are expected to drop below the surface of WIS 64 by early afternoon today. The water will need to recede well below the surface of the road prior to reopening.  A posted detour for the WIS 64 closure remains in place: Eastbound WIS 64 traffic will use County W, County P, County J, WIS 52, and US 45 to arrive back at WIS 64. Westbound traffic is the reverse.

Motorists are reminded to turn around, don’t drown and to stay alert for maintenance crews and emergency vehicles.

Shortly after midnight on Monday morning, the DoT announced the closure of State Road 64 and  the ensuing detour
