Michael A. Plummer

Michael A. Plummer left this world far too soon at the age of 49 on May 25, 2020 as a result of a motorcycle accident. Mike was born August 12, 1970, in Ladysmith, WI, the only son of Joseph and Kathleen Plummer.

During his youth, Michael lived with his parents and his sister Renea near the Wisconsin cities of Weyerhaeuser, Eau Claire, Hallie, Jim Falls, Edgar and Wausau.  Mike was a 1988 graduate of Wausau West High School. After graduation, he served in the US Army, most notably in Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm.  While serving in the military he developed leadership skills that he later found useful in the construction industry.  After mustering out of the US Army, he worked in residential and industrial construction for more than 25 years, usually as a crew leader and eventually became the proprietor of Plummer Construction Company, Inc. in which capacity he served many a satisfied customer. His motto was “I will strive for excellence. I will leave perfection to Jesus!” Because of his expertise, his services were highly sought, and he never was out of work.

Michael had a quick wit and a warm smile and a heart that would melt in compassion for others. If you needed help, he would help you.  If you needed some comforting words, he would speak them to you. If he was sure that you needed some money, he would give it to you.  If you needed encouragement, he sensed that and  offered it to you.  His favorite activities were construction, deer hunting and fishing, very possibly in that order.  Mike was baptized in his youth and was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, where it was well known that he had Jesus in his heart.  Although we are extremely saddened by his passing, we rejoice in his victory a new member of the church triumphant.

Mike leaves behind and will be sorely missed by: His mother, Kathleen Plummer, his father, Joseph Plummer of Merrill; his sister, Renea (Curt) Buttke of Weston, WI; his son, Jeffrey Plummer of Merrill; his Daughters Jolene Plummer of Merrill; Hanna Plummer of Gleason, WI; His granddaughter, Mia Brossow, of Merrill; and his grandson, Silas Joe Michael Plummer of Merrill; and his best friend, Sandra Stoneman, also of Merrill.  Mike is further survived by his Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, good friends, fellow contractors, and workmates all sharing in the grief of his loss.

Michael touched the lives of everyone that knew him in a positive and memorable way.  He leaves a legacy of extremely honest, ethical and high-quality workmanship.  He was admired both as a man and for his expert craftsmanship by his family and his friends, his coworkers, and his clients, all of whom will miss his winning smile.  May God rest his soul and help us all as we grieve his passing.
