Mary L. Peterson, 85, of Merrill, died Friday, May 1, 2020 at Pine Crest Nursing Home under Ascension at Home Hospice Care. She was born on April 28, 1935 in Iowa to the late Floyd & Lillian (Glor) Paxton. She married the “love of her life”, Ralph Peterson on February 20, 1956 in Merrill. He preceded her in death on September 18, 2012. Mary co-owned and operated Peterson Bus Service as well as helping on the family farm. She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Mary was very proud to be the “Hodag Gramma” for 30 years! She enjoyed baking & cooking for family during the holidays. Mary was talented at sewing & quilting. She had a deep love for all animals. Mary was a wonderful person who loved to have fun. She was a generous person who loved to help others whenever she was able. Mary loved spending time with her family. She will be missed.
Survivors include her three sons: Kirby (Cheri) Peterson, Steven (Tena) Peterson and Matthew Peterson, all of Merrill; seven daughters: Jane (Bill) Ollhoff, Merrill, Jean Peterson, Gainsville, GA, Julie Peterson, Downey, CA, Jan Peterson, Merrill, Jenny Peterson, Elkhart Lake, WI, Jody Peterson, Merrill, and Jackie (Alan) Welch, Merrill; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her son, Russell, sister, Helen Godby.
