Merrill Police Department Calls for Service

March 17
At 7:02 p.m., officers responded to a fight in progress. The caller stated there were numerous juveniles involved in a physical fight. Officers arrived on scene and met with two victims and the suspect was located at their residence. The juvenile suspect is being referred to Social Services for two counts of physical abuse to a child, two counts of disorderly conduct while armed and one count of strangulation.

March 18
At 2 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the city for a report of a small baggie with suspicious contents located by a vehicle on the property. The officer collected the baggie and tested the contents of the baggie. Some of the contents tested positive for marijuana.

At 1 p.m., an officer responded to a gas station in the city for a report of damage to a vehicle. The officer investigated the incident and confirmed that a soda was thrown at the side of the victim’s vehicle. The vehicle was not damaged and the investigation into a suspect is ongoing.

At 6:40 p.m., an officer investigated a report of a tavern which was open in violation of the state emergency order requiring all taverns be closed for business. The officer investigated the incident and confirmed that the bar was operating in violation of the emergency order. The owner was spoken to and agreed to comply with the mandate and avoid any enforcement action or loss of liquor license.

March 21
At 9:48 a.m., an officer responded to a damage to property complaint. The caller advised they located damage to a window at their business. The damage to the window appeared to be from possibly a pellet or BB gun. The investigation is ongoing.

March 22
At 6:37 p.m., an officer responded to a shoplifting complaint. A male and female had cut open two Bluetooth speakers. They were confronted by an employee and the male turned his stolen speaker over but the female fled from the store. The investigation is ongoing.
