Sue A. Kufahl

Sue A. Kufahl, 79, of Merrill, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at her home with her family by her side.  Sue was born October 20, 1940, in Merrill, daughter of the late George and Marcella (DeBarr) Chartier.  She married Clifford ‘Cliff’ Kufahl on October 17, 1959 at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill, and he survives.  Sue and Cliff celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past fall.  Sue was a homemaker and had also worked at the former Pamida, WCA, and Family Pharmacy.  She was a very kind woman and always put everyone else before herself.  Sue was the best grandma to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she absolutely loved being a grandma.  Sue enjoyed reading, especially mysteries; watching Law & Order; and working on crossword puzzles.  In her younger years, she enjoyed watching her kids play baseball and running the concession stand at the ballpark.  Sue was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill.

Survivors include her husband, Cliff Kufahl of Merrill; daughter, Kathy Kufahl of Merrill; sons, Greg Kufahl, Steve Kufahl (Chris Rajek), Mark Kufahl, and Dan Kufahl, all of Merrill; grandchildren, Makenzie Kufahl, Mylie Kufahl, Sara Kufahl, Ashley (Chris) Franke, Kyle Kufahl, Brandon Kufahl, and Aaron Kufahl; great-grandchildren, Dane Kufahl, Morah Franke, and Natalia Franke; sister, Sharon (Dick) Schmeltzer of Merrill; brother, Dennis Chartier of Merrill; sister-in-law, Judy Chartier of Merrill; and her granddog, Peanut.  Sue was preceded in death by her parents, George and Marcella Chartier; sons, Larry Kufahl and infant David Kufahl; brothers, Jim Chartier and Darrell Chartier; and niece, Stacy Schuster.

The funeral service for Sue will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 17, 2020 at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill.  The Rev. David Szeto will officiate.  Burial will take place in St. Paul Cemetery, Town of Pine River, Lincoln County.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, February 16th at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and again after 9:30 A.M.
