Merrill Community Theater to present: “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”
In the Merrill Community Theater’s production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”, the dastardly Herdman kids are poised to put a dreadful mark on the annual Christmas pageant! The church ladies and Pastor Hopkins are convinced that it will be the worst Christmas pageant ever! What will happen? The audience will find out if the Herdman kids sink the pageant. The on-stage cast of 27 community members are prepared to put on a hysterical performance as the audience witnesses whether the Herdman kids’ approach to the Christmas story will ruin everything!
Merrill Community Theater (MCT) is a new addition to our community. Organized, managed and directed by a small group of volunteers, the theater’s main goal is to create opportunities for all ages to become involved in theater. MCT Founder Ed Kemery says that “community theater serves as a catalyst for many things – an outlet for creativity, not just on stage, but also in the behind the scenes work that makes a production a success; a source of community pride and identity, giving opportunities for community members to come together for a common cause.”
Many entities have come together to make this first show a possibility including St. Stephens UCC, Christ United Methodist Church and Les & Jim’s. The play was also made possible by a very generous grant from the Merrill Community Foundation.
Performances will be on Friday, December 13 at 7pm; Saturday December 14 at 7pm; Sunday December 15 at 2pm at St. Stephens Church in Merrill. Advance tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors (55+) and youth (4-17). Kids under 4 are free. Tickets are $2 more at the door. Advance tickets are available at Dave’s County Market, LeRoy’s Barbershop, First Street Station (both locations), Merrill Enrichment Center, the Chamber of Commerce and from the cast and crew.
