She was nominated by Ms. Kasie Holt who states, “In addition to her impressive high school academic career, Eve has remained active in school athletics, clubs, the community, and her church. Eve has also been elected to the National Honor Society, Link Crew and LEAD; these organizations are reserved for the leaders of the school. You can often find Eve giving back to her school or community in some way, shape, or form. Despite the load she carries, she does it all with nothing but positivity. I am confident that wherever Eve lands, she will make those around her and her community a better place; just like she has done for myself and our city of Merrill.”
Ms. Holt also comments, “Eve is intelligent, compassionate, beautiful inside and out, genuine, graceful, and wise beyond her years. Eve puts everyone and everything before herself. She has spent her time recognizing those around her, so I believe this is her time to shine. Beyond her achievements, awards, and accomplishments, Eve is genuinely interested and sincere in her efforts to better herself, her school, her church, and her community. With all of her commitments, she remains poised, optimistic and humble. Eve Akey is truly one of a kind.”

During her high school career Eve has been active with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, FFA (Officer/Reporter/Career Development Event/June Dairy Breakfast/Sectional Leadership Workshop/Star Chapter Degree), Art Club (Accelerated Art Program/Congressional Art Contest Participant) volleyball (Varsity Captain), mural week, Link Crew/A-Team, National Honor Society (President), andLEAD student representative for MAPS Strategic Planning Meetings. She has also participated in FCA as student leader/helper, Senior Class Officer, Homecoming Court Princess, Prom Court, and Student of the Quarter for Science.

Outside of school Eve is involved with St. John Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School, Mt. Olive Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School, Weston Sand Volleyball league, Wausau “Chalkfest”, Merrill “Chalk It Up”, Club Volleyball – Wisconsin Ice and Medford Storm, Merrill Junior Jays Volleyball volunteer helper and coach, St. John Lutheran Church Community Thanksgiving Dinner, Tim Tebow Night to Shine volunteer at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church (special needs prom), Merrill Area Concert Association usher and student board member, Advent banner making at St. John Lutheran church, Trinity Christian Daycare, Junior Counselor at Camp Luther, and organized “Sew Much to Share” sewing classes/community outreach projects.

After high school graduation Eve plans to attend a four year university (Madison, Notre Dame, or Concordia Mequon) to major in biochemistry and/or biological science in hopes of entering the health or natural sciences field. Eve is the daughter of Rod and Leah Akey.
