City to hold strategic plan meetings; public participation encouraged

The City of Merrill will begin the development of a new strategic plan for Merrill to help guide its priorities and objectives for 2020-2025.
Mayor Derek Woellner and City Council President Rob Norton have announced that there will be a series of six meetings beginning in November. The meetings will consist of the Mayor, aldermen, elected and appointed city officials and interested members of the public.
The public is especially encouraged to participate.
The meetings will be held in the City Hall Council Chambers. Meetings will begin at 6 p.m. and conclude at 8 p.m.
As for scheduled dates and general topics to be covered at meetings, an outline is as follows:

• Wednesday, November 6
1.) Establish a Mission/Vision Statement for the future strategic plan
2.) Review and discuss the status of Merrill’s present strategic plan

• Wednesday, November 13
1.) Identify core values for Merrill’s operational government
2.) Identify Merrill’s strengths, opportunities, weaknesses and threats going forward

• Wednesday, November 20
1.) Identify long term strategic objectives for Merrill

• Wednesday, December 4
1.) Prioritize key long term strategic objectives for Merrill

• Wednesday, December 11
1.) Development of strategic initiatives and action steps to achieve Merrill’s 2020- 2025 strategic objectives

• Wednesday, December 18
1.) Finalization of Merrill’s strategic plan for 2020-2025

Active engaged participation by all stakeholders is important to help focus Merrill’s future. The process in developing the strategic plan is vital to its success and future implementation.
