The Russ Sukow Memorial golf outing, which took place on June 15, raised $500, to which they donated to the Merrill Baseball Association. Russ’ two brothers, Sid and Brian, along with his surviving wife Cecilia, presented President of the Merrill Baseball Association, Shawn Schultz with the check. The donation was in honor of Russ, who passed away on January 21, 2013. Sukow played his high school baseball at Merrill, graduating in 1961. Sukow later played baseball for the Merrill Giants, while also playing fast-pitch softball in the area.
