Dennis Mead Taylor

Dennis Mead Taylor, age 88 of Hudson, OH passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019. He was born in Merrill, WI to M.N. (Mully) and Billie Mead Taylor. His late father founded Trees for Tomorrow in Merrill in 1944. His late mother’s parents Fred and Minnie Mead owned Mead’s store on East Main Street for over 50 years. Dennis graduated from Merrill High School class of 1948, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army while stationed in Germany. He spent 40 years in the diesel engine industry including six years in the Far East based in Hong Kong and Singapore. His region included the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Burma. He shared wonderful stories of his travels. He retired in 1996 as Vice President of Sales from a Northern Ohio diesel distributor. Dennis was active in several Ohio trade organizations, President of O.E.D.A., a Board Member of the Ohio Public Transit Association and a member of the Ohio Mining and Reclamation Association. He was also a member of The Society of Automotive Engineers and the Society of Mining Engineers as well as a member of American Legion Post 464, the VFW and St. Mary Catholic Church. He was a Life Member of the Wisconsin Alumni Association and the Singapore American Club. Dennis enjoyed UW football, reading and boating at the family home in Eagle River, Wisconsin.

Dennis is survived by his beloved wife Rose Mary (Farabaugh), his loving children Patricia M. Taylor and Susan D. (Richard) Christensen and his cherished grandchildren Ava, Emma and Jacob Christensen, He is also the dear brother of Robert M. (Katherine, deceased) Taylor and the late Richard J. (Nancy, surviving) Taylor, and a dear uncle and great uncle of many.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Dennis’ name to Trees for Tomorrow (www.treesfortomorrow.com) or to the Humane Society of Summit County, 7996 Darrow Rd., Twinsburg, OH 44087 (www.summithumane.org).

A funeral mass was held at St. Mary in Hudson, Ohio, on May29th, followed by Interment at All Saints Cemetery, Northfield, Ohio.
