On Thursday night the Merrill girls basketball team faced off with the D.C. Everest Evergreens in their final regular season game of the year. It was a tight game throughout, however Everest would come out on top with a 45-38 win.

The first half of play was tightly contested with the lead switching hands multiple times. The half would come to an end in a draw with the teams tied at 22-22.

Coming out of halftime it was more of the same with neither team able to build a lead. Later in the half Everest would create some breathing room and outscore the Jays by seven points to take the victory.

Merrill was led by Courtney Krueger who scored 14 points along with two rebounds and three steals. Dalie Thomas scored five points on the night to go along with two rebounds, three assists and two steals. Ally Tabor finished the game with three points, four rebounds, five assists and a steal.

The Lady Jays finish the regular season with a record of 9-11 and conference record of 3-9. Merrill received a four seed in the upcoming division two regional playoffs and will host the winner of Lakeland and Waupaca on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m.
