The sixth annual Fill the Gazebo event was held at the Normal Park Gazebo on Saturday, Aug. 4. Thirty-nine volunteers from across the community gathered to receive food and monetary donations for the Merrill Community Food Pantry, Trinity Church, and New Testament Church food pantries. Also, food and monetary donations were received for the Food for Kids program.
The goal for the event was to receive 10,000 lbs. of food donations. Even though the goal was not attained, the 8,522 lbs. that was received was more than 1,100 lbs. more than in 2017. In addition, $4,877 was received and divided among the food pantries.
The Fill the Gazebo Committee wishes to thank the surrounding community for their generous support of the Fill the Gazebo Food Drive. Donations such as yours are what make a difference for the hungry in the Merrill community.
