Letters June 27, 2018

Dear Editor,
I am writing to get the word out about a fun community activity that is growing in popularity every day, painted rocks. The Merrill Rocks group has been going for 2 years now and has over 1000 members. The purpose behind this group is to brighten someone’s day. Join the Merrill Rocks group on Facebook to post a picture of rocks you find and rocks you re-hide or painted yourself and are hiding. If you don’t have Facebook, you can simply re-hide the rock for the next person to find. Anyone can make their own rocks to hide as well, just label the back with Merrill Rocks. We reached out to local business owners to participate with “prize rocks”. The business picks how many rocks and what the prize will be. The staff can paint their own rocks or we can paint some for them. We can assist in hiding the rocks as well or the staff can do it. Rocks have the business name and instructions to redeem for a prize. Rocks will be re-hidden throughout the summer. These area businesses are already participating: Lee’s Piggly Wiggly, Ana Blair’s, Heartland/Cenex, Dave’s County Market, Interflex Group, Studio 808, Johnson’s Toy Store, Les and Jim’s, Holly’s Hair Creations, KFC/Taco Bell, Pine Ridge R-Store, and The Painted Door. We have a great community and are excited so many businesses are getting involved. Happy hiding and happy hunting!
Sincerely,
The Admins of Merrill Rocks
