Merrill police reports

September 12
9:34 a.m.- An officer took a fraud complaint where a female subject had been scammed out of money while attempting to make a purchase for an item on the internet.
4:20 p.m.- Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of East First Street to take a male subject into custody for a probation violation. The male subject was taken into custody and transported to the jail.
5 p.m.- Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of West First Street after the reporting party indicated that a male party was creating a disturbance. The male subject was located and eventually taken into custody for disorderly conduct.

September 13
2:36 p.m.- Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of East First Street to take a male subject into custody for a probation hold. The male subject was taken into custody and transported to the jail.

September 14
1:46 a.m.- An officer stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver asked to inspect the issue. As he stepped out of the vehicle the officer observed a flask between the driver’s seat and console. The flask contained an alcoholic beverage. The driver was found to be underage to possess intoxicants and on probation prohibiting him from possessing or consuming alcoholic beverages. He was arrested for a probation violation and cited for underage possession of alcohol.
7:26 a.m.- A crash was reported on West 10th Street. The driver became blinded by the sun, drove off the road striking a mailbox and pole. A crash report was completed.
10:35 a.m.- A caller reported his son was out of control and physically assaulting his mother. The 17-year-old son had refused to get out of bed for schooling. His mother threw water on him to wake him up which caused the son to chase her through the house and pinch, place her in a headlock and punch her in the head multiple times. The son was arrested for battery and taken to jail.
9:27 p.m.- A caller reported her son had been struck by a vehicle on East Third Street. The vehicle then fled. After speaking to the son it was found he had made up the crash as he was late in going home and used the made-up story as an excuse to avoid getting in trouble.

September 15
9:23 a.m.- A caller reported someone entered his vehicle sometime overnight and stole several items.
11:50 a.m.- A caller reported someone entered his vehicle sometime overnight and stole several items.
3:20 p.m.- An officer observed someone throwing firecrackers from a vehicle. The vehicle was stopped and a passenger was cited for throwing the illegal fireworks out of the window.
