Superintendent’s Corner…

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! I am just as excited as everyone with the start of the new school year! I hope the summer has presented you with the opportunity to do all of the things you enjoy as a family.

Each new year also brings new staff members to our district. We are very pleased with our newest Bluejays as they are truly an exceptional group of educators! Please be sure to welcome them to the community as they embark on their new journey in our district!

Here are some things we are working on in preparation for the school year:
•iPad Pro rollout for all high school students
•Unveiling the recent renovations to Jay Stadium at the October 1 Homecoming Game
•Data driven student decisions with our recently acquired data management program
•Learning what it means to be trauma sensitive to our student population
•Enhancing instruction using technology with our Discovery Education partnership
•Maximizing the role of Instructional Coach to enhance learning

Just a reminder of our “Community Conversation” and that you are invited to participate in an event that will shape the future of education in Merrill Area Public Schools. We will collectively create a shared vision that will address the evolving needs of our students’ future. This three-day event will explore the past, present and future of our school district, then collect your ideas to guide our direction. We ask that you commit to all three sessions: Tuesday, Sept. 27, (5-9 p.m.); Wednesday, Sept. 28, (5-9:30 p.m.); and, Thursday, Sept. 29, (5-9:30 p.m.). Email [email protected] or call 715-536-4581, option 2 to RSVP – the deadline is Sept. 15.

Remember that the start of the school year means students will be walking to and from school and buses will be on the road. Please be aware of the extra traffic as you travel around town and help us keep our precious children safe.

I appreciate the opportunity to serve you!
Dr. John Sample, Proud Superintendent
