Cancer foundations pocket donation from pool tournament

The Stahel family and friends gathered at Pagels Pub & Grub for the donation of $21,000 from the Stahel Family Memorial Pool Tournament on Thursday, June 9.

The event was begun by Lori Baumann when her pool team member, Mary Stahel, passed away from breast cancer and continued as other Stahel family members have fought cancer. The group continues to honor their memory by holding raffles and an annual pool tournament that was held in April. Lori acknowledges the generosity of businesses and individuals in making this year’s donation of $6,000 to American Cancer Society, $6,000 to Aspirus Health Foundation, $6,000 to Children’s Miracle Network, and $3,000 to the Hope Lodge housing facility where Sherri (Stahel) Pfaff stayed at the later stage of her eight-year battle with thyroid cancer.

Top winners of the raffle items were Adnay Luetschwager from Athens (winner of ATV 4 wheeler), and Don Nix from Polonia (winner of the freezer filled with food donated by Jack Pagels).
Next year’s tentative date for the tournament is April 1, 2017.
