Letter to the Editor:
It is with great enthusiasm the Lincoln County Humane Society can call its new home, 310 North Memorial Drive.

After 4 years of endless fundraising and planning by our dedicated staff and volunteers, the homeless pets of Lincoln County now have a state of the art shelter to call their temporary home.

This shelter was totally funded through donations from generous individuals and foundations. No taxpayer dollars were used to provide this valuable service to the community. We are a non-governmental non-profit organization.

This vision of a new shelter came to fruition due to the generosity of the Bierman Family Foundation. This foundation has been involved in countless projects to better the Merrill area and we are extremely grateful to be a recipient of their funding.

The community saw there was a need for a new shelter and came forward with very generous donations as well, their tile plaques grace the walls of the shelter.

Our community can be proud of its new shelter instead of being apologetic.

It’s amazing what can happen when a group of volunteers see a need and make it become a reality. They never gave up, they never gave in, they never stopped trying and they never sold out.

We’d like to thank the public for attending our open house.

Your continued support will help thousands of animals in the years to come.

With gratitude,
Patrick and Johanna Hoerstmann
President and Fundraising Coordinator
Lincoln County Humane Society
