The Bluejay girls basketball team hung with Marshfield girls for a half of Thursday’s home game, but the 6th-ranked Tigers (D1) used a stellar second half to post a 57-36 triumph.
Merrill actually led for most of the first half, and was up 20-19 with just 1:50 remaining. But Marshfield closed with a 9-2 run for a 28-22 intermission lead, and blew open a 39-30 second-half margin with a 12-0 run.
The Tigers were paced by 20 points from Ema Fehrenbach, 16 from Meg Bryan and 12 from Mckayla Scheuer. Patience Payn (11) Maddix Bonnell (8) and Anna Finnell (5) led Merrill.
