Steve E. Steger, 59, of Gleason, died Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at his home under the care of his family and Ministry Home Care Hospice.
Steve was born July 11, 1956, in Milwaukee, son of Clarence Steger and the late Joan (DeMesy) Steger. He married LuAnn Sabatke on June 17, 1978. She survives. Steve had worked for Musson Brothers, Inc., Rhinelander. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 139. Steve was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Gleason. He enjoyed golfing, darts, playing pool, bowling, and playing baseball, softball and snow shoe baseball. Steve also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time at the Steger Family Cabin.
Survivors include his wife, LuAnn Steger of Gleason; two daughters, Michele Steger of Gleason and Sara (Eric) Olson of Rothschild; three grandchildren, Zak, Zander and Braxton; his father, Clarence Steger of Gleason; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Shirley (Allan) Olkives of Merrill; three sisters, Judy (Mark) Westberg of Wausau, Gail (Mark) Juhlke of Merrill and Jodi (Al) Larocque of Spencer; several nieces and nephews; and his buddy, Abner the Beagle. Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Steger; his father-in-law, Clifford Sabatke; his brother-in-law, Bob Kutil; and his niece, Courtney Juhlke.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Gleason. Rev. Greg Laska will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to the Gleason Lions Club or the charity of your choice.
