Miller’s Home Furnishings states support for Guard and Reserve

Mike Williams, Chairman of the Wisconsin Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, has announced that Wally Smith, owner of Miller’s Home Furnishings recently signed a Statement of Support for the National Guard and Reserve.
The Statement of Support confirms that Miller’s Home Furnishings joins other employers in pledging that:
• We fully recognize, honor and Comply with the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA).
• We will provide our managers and supervisors will have the tools they need to effectively manage those employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
• We appreciate the values, leadership and unique skills service members bring to the workforce and will encourage opportunities to employ Guardsmen, Reservists, transitioning Service members and Veterans.
• We will continually recognize and support our country’s service members and their families in peace, in crises and in war.
According to Mike Williams, “Employers who sign an ESGR Statement of Support (SOS) are a critical component of our national defense strategy. The National Guard and Reserve forces make up approximately 50% of our country’s armed forces. One of ESGR’s missions is to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service members of the National Guard and Reserve. By signing an SOS, Miller’s Home Furnishings is now part of an elite group of Wisconsin employers who pledge their support to our Guard and Reserve members who make ongoing personal and professional sacrifices in support of our national defense.”
The Statement of Support was presented by ESGR Area Chair John Rhyner.
As the 1.3 million members of the National Guard and Reserve continue to perform an increasing number of unique missions that require extraordinary actions on the part of everyday citizens, ESGR will continue to be the informational agency for the employers of citizen warriors.
