Albert L. Leopold

Albert L. Leopold, age 87, of Merrill, died January 15, 2015, at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.
Albert was born August 13, 1927, in Merrill, son of the late August and Anna (Hanson) Leopold.  He married Adeline I. Krueger on March 19, 1966.  She preceded him in death on November 9, 1990.  He then married Grace Frick Ecklund on May 6, 1998.  She preceded him in death on June 29, 2007.  Albert was a veteran and served in the United States Army.  He worked in commercial construction with the Laborers’ International Union of North America – Local 268.  Albert enjoyed ice fishing and open-water fishing, hunting, feeding the birds in wintertime, and watching John Wayne movies.  He was always willing to lend a hand and help a friend.  
Survivors include his two step daughters, Gladys (Bill) Gagan of Port Isabel, TX, and Diane (Gary) Wolff of Merrill; two step sons, Dale (Connie) Ecklund of Wausau, and Robert (Jill) Ecklund of Mosinee; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Pfingsten of Merrill; one sister-in-law, Marie Leopold of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews.  Albert was preceded in death by his wives, Adeline and Grace; one step son, Donald ‘Butch’ Utecht; two sisters, Elsie Janisch and Mae Wenzlick; six brothers, Carl, George, Ray, Fillmore, and William Leopold, and Paul Leopold, Sr.; and one brother-in-law, Clifford Pfingsten.  
The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill.  Pastor Andy Perry will officiate.  Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. 
The family would like to thank Pine Crest Nursing Home and Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center for they great care the provided Albert.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Bible Presbyterian Church, Merrill.
