Construction is winding down at the location of the city’s second Kwik Trip Convenience store located at 300 South Pine Ridge Avenue, according to Hans Zietlow; the corporation’s Director of Real Estate.
“The new Merrill store is one of 36 stores we are building this year in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa,” he said. “It will be about twice the size of the East Main Street location, at around 6,000 square feet. The new store will also have more fueling positions, with twenty gas positions and two diesel positions. The new store will be very similar in appearance to the new stores in Rhinelander and the Stewart Avenue location in Wausau.”
Other key features of the Pine Ridge Avenue store will be larger food and grocery areas, brick construction and a window “bar” for hot food patrons to eat inside the store.
As Zietlow explains, the new location will add an estimated 30 new jobs.
“About one third of the new jobs are full-time and most of those have been filled. The remaining positions are part-time.”
Zietlow said the new Pine Ridge Avenue store will open sometime in mid-December, but did not provide an exact date.
