St. Stephens worship bulletins available for hunters

This year, St. Stephens UCC is offering a worship bulletin especially designed for deer hunters. It has prayers, scripture readings, and a hymn suggestion (for humming quietly in the deer stand!). It begins with a verse from Psalm 42: 1 “As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God…”

“While we always encourage people to come to church to worship together, we recognize that many of our hunters are in the woods during the Sundays of deer hunting season. Hunting is such a major event here in the north woods. This bulletin encourages hunters to pause a few moments for worship and thanksgiving while they are on their own or with family and friends. The idea of such a bulletin came from a UCC clergy colleague in Tomah,” explained interim senior minister Rev. Linda Kuhn.

Deer hunter worship bulletins are printed on blaze orange paper and can be picked up now through Nov. 24 from the church office or after worship services at 9 and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. It can also be emailed upon request at [email protected]. St. Stephens UCC is located at 2nd and Mill Street in Merrill.
