MHS swimmers wrap up dual season

The Bluejay girls dropped a 136-34 meet at Wausau West last Thursday in their final Valley dual.
“The girls had the hardest week of practice of the season last week, so it’s no surprise that there weren’t as many first- and second-place finishes as usual,” MHS coach Lisa Siewert said. “There were a handful of best times, however. The biggest drop came from Shailee Myers in the 500 free, dropping 13 seconds.
“The practices will get easier for the remainder of the season.”
The girls will taper their routine to prepare for the Valley Meet to be held at UW-SP on Halloween.
In the West dual, the 200 free team of Jennica Jahnke, Caitlyn Kolehouse, Kendyl Pettit and Robin Opsahl touched out the Warriors for the only runner-up finish with a time of 1:54.60.
Pettit just missed another second place when she was edged in the 100 free after a time of 1:01.70. She was also nipped out of third in the 50 free by .14 after a time of :28.31, and Kolehouse was another .30 back. Jahnke just missed second by .17 in the 100 breaststroke, after clocking a 1:20.60.
The 200 medley team of Taylor LaBorde, Jahnke, Opsahl and Pettit missed third by 1-1/2 seconds after a 2:14.84.
Myers cut her 500 free time to 8:08.36.
