The Hatchets faced a formidable challenge in Friday’s Ashwaubenon Invite and placed 11th of 11 entries.
They were able to score in two events, the 200 medley relay (15th, Vic Ierulli, Kameron Knipfer, Logan Loretz, Aaron Becker, 2:09.22) and the 200 free relay (15th, Ierulli, Becker, P.J. Ehn, Loretz, 1:48.24).
Other solid finishes came from: the 400 free team (17th, Alex Kuehn, Ben Yirsa, Wyatt Schumitsch, Mesha Harcinovic, 4:47.84); Knipfer (19th, 100 brea, 1:20.33); the ‘B’ 200 medley (19th, Josh Phillips, Schumitsch, Yirsa, Ehn, 2:22.21); Yirsa (20th, 100 back, 1:27.13); Loretz (21st, 100 fly, 1:12.58); and the ‘B’ 200 free (21st, Phillips, Knipfer, Kuehn, Harcinovic, 2:01.75).

Tomahawk fell 104.5-45.5 in Shawano’s over-heated pool on Thursday.
“We walked into the Shawano pool tonight and found 89 degree F. water in the pool,” Kohl said. “Not only is this like swimming competitively in a hot tub, it’s also a situation in which I could have forced a forfeit on the part of the host team. As we couldn’t see driving for 1-3/4 hours and then turning around only not to have done any swimming (as well as forcing the need for a future make-up of the meet), we did proceed with the competition.”
The teams did cut the 500 free due to the water temp being 6 degrees too high.
THS did grab four runner-up finishes, from: Loretz (200 IM, 2:33.07/ 100 brea 1:20.54); the 200 medley team (Ierulli, Harcinovic, Loretz, Becker, 2:12.63); the 200 free group (Loretz, Ierulli, Ehn, Becker, 1:52.24).
