Duane Henry “Marty” Marquardt, 83, Weston, died Monday, December 5, 2011 at Kennedy Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Weston.
Duane was born January 14, 1928 in Merrill, son of William and Margaret (Utech) Marquardt. He married Mary (Pagel) Stanczyk in Wausau in May, 1982. She survives.
Duane joined the U. S. Air Force after graduating from Merrill High School in 1946. After his service he joined the Wisconsin Labor Union and worked in construction until his retirement. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed baseball and football.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; stepchildren Lynn (John) Lodholz, Sun Prairie and Scott (Karla) Stanczyk, Wisconsin Rapids; sister Miriam Marquardt, Merrill; sisters-in-law Beatrice Marquardt, Merrill and Carol Marquardt, Palmetto, FL; stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers Lyle, Myron, Phillip and Rodney and a sister Merle Teske.
Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Brainard Funeral Home-Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston. Rev. Raymond Connor of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Weston will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery in the Spring.
