Habitat for Humanity of Merrill will be accepting applications for their 13th Habitat home. Applications are currently being accepted, with a deadline for completed applications of March 30, 2011.

To qualify for a Habitat house, a person or family must have a need for adequate housing and not be eligible for a conventional loan; have the ability to pay the monthly mortgage, and be willing to participate as a partner with Habitat by completing 500 hours of volunteer work which counts toward your total “sweat equity” contribution as required for becoming a Habitat homeowner. The person or family must have lived in the Merrill School District for at least a year.

The person or family must also meet the 2010 Family Income Eligibility Limits.

Example: Minimum Income of $12,600 to $20,950 for a one person household up to minimum income of $23,700 to $39,500 for an eight person household.

Brochures providing information on application procedures are available at numerous locations throughout Merrill. Applications and information can also be obtained by calling the Habitat phone line at 715-539-9104 or write to Habitat for Humanity of Merrill, Inc., P.O. Box 141, Merrill, WI 54452.
