Harold J Rajek, loving father, husband and friend passed away peacefully on Dec. 27, 2010 at age 83 at Pine Crest Nursing Home.
He was born on May 9, 1927 to Alice and Ernest Rajek in the town of Schley. He was the second youngest of nine children. He resided in the Doering and Gleason area the majority of his life.
He served two years in the Army, during the Korean War and returned to marry the love of his life Marjorie Schielke. They were married 55 years.
He enjoyed maintaining a hobby farm, hunting, fishing, bowling, baseball, watching and attending various sporting events. He enjoyed music, wildlife and his beloved pets.
He worked primarily as a mechanic at the former Buick and Pontiac garage and later at Schulz’s Recycling until his retirement. He was locally known as the ‘go to guy’ for the repairs of anything with an engine or actually anything that moved. He always enjoyed spending time with family and friends and enjoyed traveling adventures with his wife and daughters. He especially enjoyed his trips to Canada with his lifelong friends. He was known for his jovial nature, hard-working ethic, generosity and dedication to the well-being of his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Rajek; his daughters, Mary Jo (Jerry Wistein-fiance) Rajek, Charlottesville, VA, and Amy (Scott) Hanneman, Gleason; and grandchildren, Aaron Tobey, Sam Tobey and Alysa Hanneman; his brother James (Ruth) Rajek, Merrill; and sister Dorothy Olson, Rockford, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
While he will always be missed by those who loved him; we know he is in a better place and we celebrate our good fortune for having known him. Our memories of him will always brighten our gloomiest days and give us the gift of a pleasant smile. On behalf of Harold and his family, would like to express the heartfelt thanks to the Special Care Unit at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Aspirus Hospice and Comfort Care and Dr. Wheat for the wonderful care received.
In lieu of flowers the family request that any memorials be given to the Special Care Unit at Pine Crest Nursing Home.
Services were held Friday, Dec. 31, 2010 at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Gleason, Pastor Anderson presiding.
Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
