BluejayPreboske’s best

The conference coach of the year in any sport is generally coach of the first-place team, although there are somewhat-unusual exceptions.

But it’s a rare day indeed when the coach of a winless squad receives the vote of her peers.

The leadership and sportsmanship shown by MHS girls swim team coach Bethany Preboske drew just such an award from the Valley coaches this year.

“Bethany was recognized for her hard work and incredibly positive attitude,” MHS Activities Director Jordan Sinz said. “We are certainly lucky to have her as a teacher and coach at MHS.”

Merrill assistant coach Cathy Ordemann echoed that sentiment.

“Bethany has just finished her third season as head swim coach and daily teaches our swimmers about the importance of hard work, perseverance and how to take pride in their individual accomplishments,” she said.

“Even if we are losing our girls always swim with heart which is a reflection of Bethany’s coaching. Although when you have the type of student athletes that we have they make it easy. They are eager to push for new times, learn new techniques and learn the importance of being a team.”
