A 34-year old Scholfield man was arrested last Tuesday evening at a Town of Merrill residence on criminal charges after deputies responded to a report of a man holding two people at gunpoint.
Deputies had been put on alert after a resident called early Tuesday morning and reported receiving a threatening phone call from a male who said he was coming over later that day and harm the residents of the household.
When Donald A. Manke arrived at the home just after 7:15 p.m., the home owner greeted Manke and his passenger with a rifle until deputies arrived. Manke admitted making the call the night before but denied making any threats. His passenger told a deputy he had just been released from jail and was not there to cause problems just assist his friend in case of a fight.
Manke was brought to the Lincoln County Jail and was booked in on charges disorderly conduct and unlawful use of a telephone. He was later released after posting bond.
