Hundreds of children have already jumped right in to “Make a Splash” at T. B. Scott Library by reading for fun and prizes. Parents and other caregivers are encouraged to make sure their children stay involved in reading and learning throughout school vacation.

Stop in any time during regular library hours to pick up or return reading cards. Youth services staff will be delighted to provide more detailed information on summer programs as well as suggestions for books and other materials appropriate to each child’s age and interest levels.

Upcoming events include:

Wednesday, July 7, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. – “Splishin’ and Splashin'” with storytellers Joni Hahn and Laurie Jacoby will be presented twice in the library Youth Services Department, sponsored by Lincoln Community Bank. All ages are welcome to enjoy some familiar folk tales in this spirited, interactive program bursting with humor, action and audience involvement.

Thursday, July 8, 12-1:15 p.m. – Lunch Bunch will enjoy a Sea Serpent Extravanganza. Children going into grades 4 to 6 may join Lunch Bunch at any time by registering at the library youth services desk. Sessions include stories, hands-on crafts and other water-themed activities.

Monday, July 12, 11 a.m. – A Preschool Peanut Butter Picnic for ages 2 to 5 and their guests will be held on the library west lawn. Attendees will be treated to a program of stories and music with Lisa Hass. Be one of the first 100 to register to receive bag lunches packed by teen volunteers following the program. The event is sponsored by Waves Full Service Hair Salon.

Library programs and events are free of charge and open to the public. For more information or to register for a program, contact the library at 536-7191.
