Pettit named Youth Optimist of the Month

Tanner Pettit was chosen by the Noon Optimist for the month on February. He was nominated by Mr. Greg Eichelkraut and Mr. Brian Suchocki who write: “Tanner is a motivated individual that is willing to help his school and community. He benefits the many organizations that he participates in with his leadership, positive attitude, work ethic and character. As captain of the wrestling team, Tanner always encourages his team mates and helps the coaches. He holds himself to high academic standards. Tanner has always been respectful, hard working, energetic but most importantly he has a very optimistic attitude. He knows who he is and takes pride in his community and the traditions of the community. He represents his clubs, teams, organizations, high school, community, family and himself with class and dignity.” Mr. Eichelkraut writes, “Tanner is an outgoing, friendly student while being involved in many activities he has maintained an outstanding GPA of 4.0. His efforts and communication skills have earned him leadership positions such as Class Co-President, FFA President and Wrestling team Captain. Tanner brings a high amount of positive energy into any group; he reaches out to fellow teammates and is an excellent role model.”
Since the 6th grade Tanner has held a 4.0 GPA. He has taken courses such as Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, Algebra 2 Honors, AP Calculus, AP Psychology, AP Physics, AP Lit & Comp, Medical Terminology as well as duel credit courses Anatomy and Physiology. Tanner is involved in FFA, Octagon Club, Earth Club, Cross Country, Wrestling, Golf, Link Crew, CDE Wildlife team, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Grand Speaker Forum. He has received Academic All-State for golf and has lettered two times, is the Wrestling Captain and has received four Varsity letters.
Through the many organizations that Tanner is involved in, he has volunteered for Make a Difference Day and countless number of youth wrestling tournaments and functions.
Tanner plans to attend University of Wisconsin Madison to major in Biology. He is the son of Scott and Stacy Pettit.
