Seventh annual Artisan Showcase

Join in the celebration of artistic talent in the Merrill area as artisans display and sell their work at the seventh annual Merrill Artisan Showcase. Held in beautiful Assisi Hall at Bell Tower Residence on O’Day Street, the show runs from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14
Yes, it is Valentine’s Day and the perfect venue for bringing your spouse or significant other for a stroll through the artists’ creations while enjoying a glass of wine and other refreshments. Or, perhaps this will give you an opportunity to pick up a unique gift for your sweetheart on this special day.
Twenty artisans will show their work at the show. One of them is Sarah Sommers Williams who will display and sell her glass-fused jewelry and other art. As an artist who has participated in the show many times, she says she enjoys “the variety of artisans and craftsmen and seeing people socializing and having fun.”
Sarah was born and raised in Merrill and has always loved being creative. As a youngster, her father started her on paint by number and her mother taught her sewing and crocheting. Since high school, she has been involved in some kind of art and these past years has worked with glass fusing and bead making. A favorite part of jewelry making is combining colors and playing with dichroic glass. Recently, she added jewelry made from recycled bottle caps. She has also experimented with the art of writing on glass before fusing it and has added watercolor pencil art to her collection.
Come and see what artistic gems Sarah and the other artists have prepared. The show admission is $5 and includes wine and cheese and other refreshments along with unique art work.
Again, this year, there will be an on-site raffle, to which most of the artisans have donated a piece of art. Raffle tickets will be on sale at the show and sell for $2 each or 3 for $5. Another important addition is piano music during the show, provided by four Merrill pianists on the Steinway Grand in the hall.
All profits from the show go to Bell Tower Residence for debt reduction.
