Tomahawk couple charged with stealing $90,000 from employer

A Tomahawk couple is accused of making more than $90,000 in personal purchases on their employer’s credit card.
On Dec. 4, 2013, the owner of the Tomahawk Bus Service, 1801 Kaphaem Rd., Tomahawk, filed a complaint with the Tomahawk Police Department regarding the misappropriation of funds from his business by a former manager, Shad R. Harper, 44, and his wife, Kimberly A. Harper, 45, while they were employed by the company.
Shad had been the manager for the company from November 2006 through June 2013 when he was terminated along with his wife, who had also worked at the company. After a lengthy investigation, it was determined that between March 2009 and June 2013, Shad and Kim Harper had spent approximately $90,000 in company funds by using the company’s credit card and checking account for personal use.
On March 24, 2014, charges of theft-business setting, unauthorized use of an entity’s identifying information or documents, and fraudulent use of a credit card were forwarded to the Lincoln County District Attorney’s office against the couple.
On April 25, the district attorney’s office formally charged Shad and Kim Harper with three felonies including theft-business setting, unauthorized use of an entity’s identifying information or documents, and fraudulent use of a credit card.
No court appearances have yet been scheduled.
