Do you need something different to spice up the last days of winter? The Prairie River Middle School Bands must be out of their minds to present “Out of This World” on Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m. The program is free and will be held in the Galactic Auditorium at the Cosmic Prairie River Middle School and will feature the Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Grade Starship Bands. That’s right, did you guess it? … This band concert will have a “space” theme.
The program will begin with a combined attack of all forces. Sixth grade will have the frontal attack, and the Seventh and Eighth Grade will flank on each side. All bands will open the concert with “Also Sprach Zarathustra,” the theme from “2001 Space Odyssey.”
Then, the Sixth Grade Starship Band will begin their attack with “Battle in Space March” followed by “Invaders” and “Dance of the Jabberwocky.” Ultimately, the band will show its full power with “Power Rock.”
The Seventh Grade Starship will take over the assault with “Starship One,” “Space Junk Funk,” and “Laredo.” The assault will come to its conclusion with the promise of “Simple Gifts.”
The Eighth Grade Symphonic Starship will also provide another worldly experience with the “Chorale from Jupiter,” movements from the “Apollo Suite,” and “John Williams: Movie Adventures.” Then the band will finally bring us to back to earth in Chicago – with “25 Or 6 To 4.”
