Helen Elisabeth Gatterman

Helen Elisabeth Gatterman, 90, 3380 Bridlewood Dr., Plover, WI, a former Merrill resident, died Dec. 6, 2012 at Whispering Pines Assisted Living in Plover.

Helen was born Jan. 6, 1922 in Bloomville, WI, a daughter of the late William and Nellie (Evans) Gaedeke. She was married to Clifford Gatterman in 1946. He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 2010.
Helen was a graduate of Merrill High School and during WWII worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory. She later became a co-owner of Gatterman’s Poultry Farm, which she ran with her husband from 1955-1976. Her interests included: spending time with her family, reading, bowling, writing poetry, singing and traveling to visit relatives.
Survivors include one son, William (Pat) Gatterman, Waukesha; three daughters, Kathleen (Edward) Martinsen, Stevens Point; Christine (Ronald) Weseloh, Custer; and Lauri Gatterman, CA; one brother, Charles (Elaine) Rahlf, Kingman, AZ; three sisters-in-law, Alice Alberg, Merrill; Ruth Gaedeke, Wausau; and Dorothy Rahlf, Merrill; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; one brother, Walter Gaedeke; two sisters, Margaret Tanck and Viola Schuster; one step-brother, Wesley Rahlf and one step-sister, Irene Kadlac.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Waid Funeral Home Chapel. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
