Break-FAST-n-Learn workshop planned

The Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce and Wisconsin Public Service have partnered again to bring another workshop to the community. On Feb. 17 they will present a program titled “The Natural Gas in Your Home CAN KILL YOU.”

Each year in the U.S., about 2,000 people are “silently” killed in their homes and they never saw or heard it coming. Another 40,000 more are taken to the emergency room. Why? The improper and inefficient burning of natural gas from appliances that keep our homes warm is the reason. During the workshop WPS Gas Technicians will provide an informative demonstration of the potential and real dangers natural gas can cause.

“We are pleased to be able to offer another workshop with our good partner WPS,” stated Debbe Kinsey, Chamber Executive Director. “This workshop is timely due to the new law that went into effect on Feb. 1 requiring carbon monoxide detectors in every home and business. This informative workshop and demonstration could actually save your life.”

The workshop will take place at the WPS office building located at 3200 E. Main St. beginning at 7:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast followed by a one-hour workshop presentation. The workshop is being offered free of charge, but an RSVP is required.

This workshop is the first of several being planned by the Chamber this year as part of their 100th Anniversary celebration. Chartered by the State of Wisconsin in 1911, the Merrill Chamber of Commerce is one of the oldest in the state. As part of their celebration the Chamber has special events and activities planned for every month during 2011. Upcoming workshops include topics on technology, customer service and accounting for non- accountants.

You can register for this workshop by contacting the Chamber office at 715-536-9474. Deadline for registration is Feb. 14.
