Mark W. Schmidt

Mark W. Schmidt, 54, of Merrill, formerly of Eau Claire, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, as a result of a motorcycle accident in Lincoln County.
Mark was born Feb. 20, 1956, in Rice Lake, son of the late Norman R. and Leola M. (Adams) Schmidt. He was a graduate of Eau Claire North High School. Mark served in the U.S. Navy. He married Cynthia Creamer on April 15, 1982, in Las Vegas. She survives.
Mark was employed as “area maintenance” with the United States Postal Service, Wausau district office, and he recently began a second job working at “U2”, a motorcycle maintenance and repair shop specializing in Ural and other Russian motorcycles. Motorcycling was Mark’s passion. He also enjoyed camping, small game hunting, fishing, and enjoying life with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Cynthia Schmidt, Merrill; daughters, Carina (Randy) Degner, and Aneliese Schmidt, both of Merrill; son, Vaughan Schmidt, Merrill; grandchildren, Arianna and Daryan Degner, Merrill; their foreign exchange daughter, Nanaka Sakurai, Los Angeles, who spent the 2005 school years living with the Schmidt Family; sisters, Jan (Bill) White, Elk Mound, and Gale (Jeff) Jevne, Eau Claire; brother, Allen (Barb) Schmidt, Clarksville, TN; and nieces and nephews.
A remembrance motorcycle ride for Mark will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, from Pro Motor Sports, Brokaw, WI.
A remembrance memorial will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at Kathy & Cal’s Club 64, Merrill.
