‘Nickel Tour’ celebrates Merrill’s trolley days

Merrill Historical Society and Merrill Transit System are teaming up to celebrate the 125th anniversary of public transportation in Merrill by offering rides along the route taken by Merrill’s trolley from 1890 to 1921. The rides take place Saturday, Sept. 19 and will leave from the Merrill History & Culture Center, 100 E. Third St.

Comunidad Hispana presents authentic Mexican experience

Comunidad Hispana will present its second annual fund raiser event at Normal Park on Saturday, Sept. 19. The event will be an “Independence Shout” in celebration of Mexico’s Independence Day. Running from 4-10 p.m., the event will feature authentic Mexican food, a Mariachi band, Mexican dances and folklore, pinatas, a 50/50 raffle and silent auctions.
