Youth quilters invited to enter Kids’ Quilt Challenge

Posted

Young quilters across Wisconsin have an opportunity to showcase their work at a statewide event this fall.
The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show is accepting entries for its 2026 Kids’ Quilt Challenge, open to quilters and sewists ages 15 and under. Entries must be submitted by Aug. 9, 2026.
Presented by PBS Wisconsin and Nancy Zieman Productions, the show is scheduled for Sept. 10-12 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. Quilts entered in the Kids’ Quilt Challenge will be on display throughout the event, and an awards presentation is set for Sept. 12.
Nancy Zieman Productions sponsors the challenge, which awards gift cards to the top three finishers — $200 for first place, $100 for second, and $50 for third. Entries will be evaluated on workmanship, creativity, and overall appearance.
Now in its 22nd year, the show draws quilters from across Wisconsin and the United States. In addition to the youth challenge, the event features educational lectures and workshops, quilt exhibits, a vendor mall, and a community service project called Quilt to Give, through which attendees create quilts for people in need. Proceeds from the show benefit PBS Wisconsin programming and community outreach.
