The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) North Central Region announced the seasonal posting of weight limits on area state highways. The weight restrictions are 6 tons gross load for single axle vehicles and 10 tons gross load for tandem axle vehicles (any two axles under 8 feet apart). The maximum gross weight is 24 tons.
Weight restrictions went into effect at noon on Monday, Mar. 10, 2025, on the following highways in Lincoln County and Marathon County:
• WIS 52, Marathon County, from Little Elm Rd. to Shawano County line.
• WIS 107, Marathon County, from Marathon County Rd. A to the Lincoln County line.
• WIS 107, Lincoln County, from Marathon County line to WIS 64.
Seasonal weight restrictions (springtime posted roads) are placed on specific highways during the spring thaw period. The restrictions are added to prevent damage to the pavement structure.
The Lincoln County Highway Department also issued weight restrictions that went into effect at 8 a.m. on Monday, Mar. 10, as follows:
8 ton maximum — 6 tons/axle
18 ton maximum — 6 tons/axle
A – USH 51 to STH 17
B – STH 17 to CTH D

Additional town roads and city and village streets may also be posted or limited to legal load limits or less. Decisions to place or lift weight restrictions on those roads are up to local units of government.
