Veterans Summer Picnic and Family Fair set for June 28 at American Legion Post 46

Posted

The Lincoln County Veterans Council is hosting a free Veterans Summer Picnic and Family Fair for veterans and their families on Sunday, June 28, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Edward A. Burns American Legion Post 46, 601 Johnson Street in Merrill.
The event is designed to provide an afternoon of fun and camaraderie for veterans and their families, including kids and grandkids, and to strengthen the bond between U.S. veterans and the Merrill community, organizers said. At American Legion Post 46, they like to say, “Our focus is veterans ... Our concern is community. One team ... one family!”
The afternoon will feature free burgers and brats for veterans and their guests, Grandstand ice cream, a bounce house, face painting, balloon animals, and a DJ. Operation Horses Heal will bring horses and donkeys on site, and the American Legion Riders will stop in as part of their statewide three-day Cruise for a Cause.
The event is open to the public. Non-veterans are asked to consider a $2.50 donation in honor of the nation’s upcoming birthday.
RSVPs are not required but encouraged. Email americanlegionmerrill@gmail.com with the number in your party and how many are veterans.
