Thursday night storms mark the beginning of summer storm season

Posted

Despite severe thunderstorm warnings and a tornado warning for the Merrill area last Thursday evening, May 15, 2025, which canceled or postponed multiple area events, the Merrill area didn’t suffer too much storm damage in this first round of early summer storms.
The most significant damage noted was to the roof of an old Semco building on Merrill’s southeast side near the River Bend Trail, where a large part of the roof was blown off, most likely due to straight line winds.
There were also a few trees blown over in the area, with some outlying area residences reporting they lost power for about 24 hours.
The early-season storms were a good reminder to have a plan in place to respond to severe weather on short notice.
