St. Stephens UCC in Merrill announced they will offer grants to community groups from the area that would like to start new projects.
The church received a $1,500 Catalyst Grant from the Wisconsin Conference UCC that they can, in turn, offer to local groups to help them kick off new initiatives and projects that will benefit the underserved in Merrill, they said in a press release.
“The belief behind Catalyst Grants is that a lot of good ideas never get tried because a local group lacks just the few hundred dollars it might take to start something great for the community,” the release said. “Catalyst Grants intend to fill that need to help get new ideas moving.”
Grant applications are available on the church’s website: www.ststephensucc.net. Grant applications should be submitted to the church no later than Aug. 31, 2023.
“Previous grant recipients have started support groups, neighborhood garden initiatives, educational programs, and other ‘Love Your Neighbor’ projects,” the release said.
Winners will be notified by Sept. 30 and will be celebrated at the Food for Kids “Love Your Neighbor” Fundraising Banquet on Oct. 31 at Les and Jim’s.
For more information on the grant or on the Food for Kids Fundraising Banquet, call the church office at 715.536.7322 or email church@ststephensucc.net.
