Rexford “Rex” G. Buehler, age 84, of Merrill, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Bell Tower Residence Assisted Living. Rex was born on May 20, 1939 to the late George and Dorothy (Szwingley) Buehler in Medford, WI. He attended and graduated from Medford High School. Rex went on to serve his country in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1963. He had earned his Marksman Commendation and the Good Conduct Medal. Rex met the love of his life, Lee LaVonne Boushley, and the two lovingly exchanged marriage vows on March 25, 1988 in Merrill. She survives.
Rex worked as an auto body repairman for 41 years, and was the owner of Taylor Body Shop, Inc. in Merrill. He sold the shop and retired in 2004. In his younger years, Rex enjoyed spending time tinkering with vehicles, fishing and heading to the shack to go deer hunting, as well as helping with trap shooting. He enjoyed the outdoors, and being in the woods. Rex is remembered as a generous, honest and helpful man with a kind and gentle soul. He was a loving husband and father and he cherished time with his family and friends. Rex was a member at St. John Lutheran Church in Merrill. He will be missed dearly, but will never be forgotten.
Rex is survived by his wife: Lee Buehler, son: Bryan (Jolene) Buehler, step-daughters: Meredith (John) Heldt and Miranda (Kevin) Voss, step-son: Micah Michalski, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, sister-in-law: Elsie Buehler and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson: Jordan Buehler, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
A private service will be held at Waid Funeral Home.
